6 Comfortable Trends Fashion People are Dedicated To This Fall

Even though it's hot and humid out as I sit down to write this, I don't think it's ever too early to start conjuring a fall wardrobe, even if that means just mentally (for now). Colder and crisper weather will be here before we know it and since it's our job to inform you of the most stylish options the season has to offer, we're doing just that, only with a comfortable twist.

With many people continuing to learn and work remotely well into the fall, it's only fitting that we look at this season's batch of trends through the lens of comfort and practicality (without sacrificing style, of course). Looking to the F/W 2020 runways and what our fashion friends are wearing IRL, we've surmised that the following six comfortable fall fashion trends will reign supreme. From the new loungewear staples everyone is wearing to the dress trend that couldn't be any better suited to 2020, continue on to discover and shop our ultimate comfy fall edit.

Fitted knit numbers flooded the fall runways, most notably at Dion Lee, Simon Miller, and Brandon Maxwell where the snug dresses were alluring but surprisingly comfy-looking, too.
Finally, a shoe trend that's as stylish as it is practical. This season is bringing a massive wave of relief to our feet as droves of designers are offering classic boots with flat (and platform) soles made for lots of walking.
If we sound like a broken record, it's not our fault. Big, boxy blazers continue to stay relevant season after season and as long as they're in style, we'll be talking about them. Relaxed suiting is a big silhouette this fall, and our favorite way to wear it is via a big blazer thrown on top of literally any outfit.
If you're looking for a sign to put away your skinnies for the time being, this is it. Tight and rigid jeans are hardly as appealing these days, so we're jumping at the chance to style more forgiving wide-leg pairs that feel so fresh.
So long as we're stuck at home, loungewear will be a part of the conversation. Thanks to the retro sporty aesthetic that's on the rise, crewneck sweatshirts are gaining steam and, well, they're literally made for lounging. That said, they work just as well with leggings as they do layered over a collared shirt or styled with a tennis skirt for a trendier take.
I know it's still August, but we'll have to think about outerwear eventually and when we do, hairy shearling and fuzzy faux fur will be top of mind. Cozy up in one of these toppers once the weather cools—they go well with you classic jeans and booties, too.

Now that you've got your fill of trends, check out the 38 affordable basics I'm eyeing for fall.
