Prediction: This Will Be the Biggest Spring 2022 Trend

Micro miniskirts are arguably one the most talked-about trends on the S/S 22 runways, and I’m here to say that all of that talk is worth the hype. And I’m going one step further: I’m predicting that miniskirts will be the biggest trend for the spring season ahead. Yes, bare legs are in and it turns out, the shorter the hemlines, the better.

Looking at the spring collections, there were so many takes on cute miniskirts that it doesn’t feel sufficient to just boil it down to one piece. Instead, there are a range of silhouettes and ways to wear them that we’ll be seeing more of in the coming months. At Versace, electric shades solidified the presence of miniskirts in bold shades like lime green and hot pink. At Miu Miu, we saw extreme micro miniskirts in iterations ranging from skirt sets to preppy pleats. While at Chanel, knit co-ords were debuted that is already a hot buy among the fashion set.

I couldn’t wait to test-drive the trend for myself, so ahead, I’m sharing how I’m styling miniskirts now, as well as the five key ways to wear miniskirts for spring 2022.

Coordinating suits get reimagined each season. This time around, skirt suits are in full focus, notably at Miu Miu, where shrunken proportions feel extra fresh.
I couldn’t wait to test out the micro miniskirt trend for myself and the first version I tried out is the skirt suit look, including a matching jacket and miniskirt. Here, I styled it with a crisp button-down and platform slides—two of my other favorite trends for spring. I’m recommending this exact style from Mango and the great news is that it just went on sale. I’d suggest taking your regular size in the jacket but sizing up in the skirt.
I love this oversize silhouette.
If you want to highlight your legs, this is the skirt for you.
This color is beyond.
Skort fans will appreciate this set.
Yep, another matching set—this time around, knit- co-ords as spotted on the Chanel runway. Something about this feels very current but also like a throwback to the ’90s, and I’m here for it.
If this isn’t me on vacation in 2022, I don’t want it. This look alone is inspiring me to add some knitted microskirt sets to my closet.
Just add a chain belt bag.
Just wow.
It’s required to wear this as a set, in my opinion.
Yep, this Reformation set also comes in blue.
Hemlines are getting raised for 2022, and that’s saying a lot considering how they already were last year. Super-micro miniskirts were one of the most consistent pieces on the Prada S/S 22 runway, which tells me you absolutely shouldn’t ignore them.
Here’s your preview of the 2022 fashion-girl spring uniform. Micro skirt + bomber + heels = perfection.
Dangerously short (in a good way).
Mango nailed the perfet shade of pink.
So chic.
I’m here for this print.
A vacation staple.
If there’s another takeaway to memorize for spring, it’s a renewed commitment to sartorial color. No shade is too bold and head-to-toe tones are encouraged, as seen at Versace.
If you’re overwhelmed by the idea of wearing bright shades, pick out a bold miniskirt and then stick to black for your other pieces.
This shade, though.
Orange is the color to wear in 2022.
Swap your standard denim skirt for a colorful version.
The Attico never misses.
I love this slit detail.
Preppy fashion is back in full swing. While there are plenty of pieces that are worthy of your spring wardrobe, pleated skirts are a frontrunner.
Pairing a pleated skirt with a printed mesh top and platforms feels like peak fashion girl. I expect to see this formula repeated in the coming months.
For tennis (or not).
Our editors can’t get enough of this low-waisted silhouette.
Just add platforms.
I’d style this with a cropped button-down.
