The Perfect Outfit Always Starts With This One Essential

Welcome to Weekday Wardrobe, a series in which one Who What Wear editor or staffer will snap a pic of the outfits they wear from Monday to Friday. We'll break down where you can shop it all to inspire your own everyday style, no matter what's on your weekly agenda.

I have dozens of stylish co-workers, but our senior fashion editor, Kristen Nichols, has a specific style that I particularly admire. She's classic, elevated, and just looks super polished all the time. I'm building out my capsule wardrobe for the year, and I realized that, since she's just one Slack message away, I might as well ask her for advice. Her secret to a put-together look? A well-fitted bra. Kristen spilled, "I'm a big believer in getting fitted for a bra. After finding the right size, it made the biggest difference—both in how my outfits look and how comfortable I felt."

Now, here's the thing: If there's one struggle I've consistently had throughout the years, it's finding bras that fit properly. (Why is it so hard?) But Kristen let me in on yet another secret of hers: Wacoal's newest app, mybraFit™. The app will take a completely secure scanned image of your body to determine your bra size and will ask a few simple questions to figure out which styles suit you best. Within minutes, you'll receive an email with your customized size and bra recommendations, and you can click and purchase products seamlessly. It's literally that easy. Kristen was kind enough to give me some insight into a few new looks she's been wearing on repeat lately and the bras she's declaring responsible for the polished final result. Want to see what she's wearing this week? Keep scrolling.

"I live in Los Angeles, so hiking is something I do a lot. I like to start out my week with an early-morning hike at the city's most famous spot: Runyon. While I want what I'm wearing to be functional, I also want to wear something that feels on-trend. (And a sports bra paired with sweatpants is L.A.'s #1 off-duty look.) Most of the sports bras I own are from activewear brands, but this style from Wacoal prioritizes bust shape since it comes in my actual bra size to ensure the perfect fit. Instead of just flattening everything for function, it lifts at the same time, which is so key."

"I basically live in jeans and a button-down on the day-to-day. In this case, I added a pair of throwback sneakers and a baseball cap, two accessories I can't get enough of right now. Whether I'm working from home or grabbing lunch at one of my favorite local spots, this is what you'll find me wearing. I love that I can easily throw on a bralette with this top since it's such a go-to style for me. It's equal parts comfortable and pretty. If I'm running around, I want to wear something easy and comfortable, so I rely on some of my favorite closet basics—including everything I'm wearing here."

"I can't get enough of chic pantsuits, and I'm a firm believer that they work for nearly every occasion. The true trick to pulling them off? A great top and heels that make them feel fashion-forward as opposed to corporate. This bra worked perfectly with this top because it looked seamless and smooth under the tank. I couldn't even tell it had underwire—it was so comfortable!"

"Nothing tops this look for a work meeting. The split-hem leggings are effortlessly elevated with the easy addition of the structured blazer. Because this blazer is pretty fitted, I was looking for something that would offer support without any added volume—and this bra couldn't have been a better fit. And to be honest, while this bra is the perfect piece to wear under this blazer, it's also the ultimate pretty item to wear any chance I get. Trust me."

"A knit tank and pleated skirt paired with sharp slingbacks? My ideal date-night look. I'm wearing the same T-shirt bra as I was on Wednesday (it's worth having multiple in your drawers) because the thin straps on this bra make it an ideal style to swap in when I might normally go for something strapless. (I'm all for more support.) By the end of the week, I usually have a few social outings penciled in. I tend to keep my outfits sleek and easy, so a bra that can hide underneath a tank top is just what I'm looking for."
