7 Micro-Trends That Will Rule Summer 2022

If there's one thing I've learned from my days as a fashion editor, it's how to track down micro-trends before anyone else catches wind of them. The official announcement may not have been released for many of these trends that are currently having their moment, but that hasn't stopped them from slowly but surely taking over my Instagram feed.

It's crazy how fast these trends often pop up, once I noticed the under-$15 flower hair clip, it was like every It girl seemed to already have it in her repertoire. My roundup of summer 2022 micro-trends could have gone on and on but I had to narrow it down to the best of the best.  Below, you'll find the seven micro-trends I insist everyone knows about before summer fully kicks off.

All of a sudden, my Instagram feed fully got taken over by what may just be one of the most popular Amazon buys in a while: the flower hair clip. There's a color that can go along with each of your outfits so the styling opportunities are endless.
I'll take one in every color, please.
This one is next-level.
Wearing two at once is a major power move.
How good is this?
It girls have already decided that crochet is the fabric of 2022, and I have a feeling the masses are about to catch on too. You can't go wrong with a maxi crochet dress on vacation, I should know I've already pulled that card twice.
Ease into the trend with these fun flare pants.
This dress has all of my attention.
I'm so obsessed with this top.
Take it to the max.
Vests are definitely a power move.
I could go on and on about my newfound love for Y2K-inspired wedge sandals. (In fact, I already have.) The trend is slowly on the come-up, and all of my fashion editor coworkers are here for it.
You already know how I feel about the color green.
A platform and wedge combo is sure to win me over.
The official chic shoes of summer 2022.
An ideal mule situation.
I'm so here for this.
To many fashion people, minimalism is so last year. I'm right with them having fully embraced bold colorways. Up next just so happens to be fun graphic prints. It's giving '90s.
Such an easy tube top to wear.
This dress went viral for a good reason.
Everything by Louisa Ballou is coming home with me.
Psychedelic girl.
Everyone is talking all about mini and maxi skirts, but what about the in-betweens? Knee-length skirts are behaving like the typical middle child and making their name heard.
The perfect piece to start with.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate this one?
If knee-length is too conservative for you, this slit should solve that problem.
Here's proof that I need another vacation.
Another chapter of Y2K nostalgia has opened up and in this case, it comes in the form of the butterfly motif. Whether it's jewelry, a print, or a top that's literally shaped like a butterfly prepare to see this pretty little insect everywhere.
I feel inspired to perform metamorphosis.
The perfect gift.
Dua Lipa would approve.
It's yet another cowboy boot summer.
For many years camo print was "cheugy," but that all changed when my favorite fashion girls were seen wearing the print. Quickly, I added it to my closet as well. It's all in the styling, so I'm here for it.
Did somebody say micro skirt?
Invite me to your summer house.
Such a flattering silhouette.
This skirt has my heart.
