I’m Making Travel Plans As We Speak: The Hotspots and Outfits High on My List

The spirit of summer is alive and in my bones, which means that I'll be obsessively checking Google Flights until October. If it isn't apparent yet, I'm a person in a constant state of wanderlust, and I have the bookmarks to prove it. Every year I make a running list of vacation destinations that stick out to me or have that je nais se quois so to speak. Whether it's because they're gaining traction as a global hotspot (cue Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc), are new to the scene, or settled in a cool, exotic location, they're more than your usual run-of-the-mill resorts. 

While these vacations all exist purely within my internet tabs (for now), my fashion editor tendencies have already envisioned a full roster of outfits for each. Should the vacation gods favor me with an extra vacation fund, I'll be prepared. Below, see the top 5 spots I'm itching to go next, as well as all of the pretty resort clothes to match.

Location: Antibes, France. The Why: Even before Gen-Z's "royal wedding", aka Sofia Richie and Elliot Grainge, the resort was known as the retreat on the French Rivera, where the views are stunning, the clientele is glamorous and the champagne is flowing.

Cap du Eden Roc's view of the Mediterranean Sea and its pool is legendary.

Location: Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands. The Why: Founded by creative Gabriella Khalil in 2019, Palm Heights has become a retreat for those looking slow down and soak in the clear, turquoise waters. The interiors are eclectic and artful but not too pretentious for the warm, home away from home feeling. Don't be surprised if you spot fashion editors or New York creatives enjoying a drink at the hotel.

You'll want to spend as much time indoors—the decor is that good.

Location: Con Dao, Vietnam. The Why: It's not every day that you get to relax within a national park; this resort is situated right in the middle of Vietnam's Con Dao—a small archipelago off the country's southern coast known for its sandy beaches and lush vegetation. The huge draw of the resort is its access to a beautiful private beach.

Location: Turtle Bay, Mauritius. The Why: If you want to stray from the usual spots (one can only go to Portofino so many times), it's time to consider Mauritius. Sure, it's more than 25 hours of airtime from New York, but like most long-haul flights, it's totally worth it. The country itself is a nexus of varying cultures and cuisines, which feels unlike any other place in the world. 

Location: Marrakech, Morocco. The Why: At this point, I feel like I'm the only person who hasn't gone to Marrakech this year. The city has emerged as a favorite among creatives—especially those who appreciate architecture and decor. Amanjena was recently named a Conde Nast Traveler reader's favorite for its serene setting and stunning villas. But true to just about every Aman property, this resort is nothing short of breathtaking.

If surrounding yourself in quiet is a priority, Amanjena is the way to go.
