Everyone has their go-to procrastination tactic—maybe you find yourself refreshing your Instagram feed, whipping up an elaborate meal, or going for a leisurely walk when you're putting off a task. My personal coping mechanism? Making shopping lists. No matter what mood I'm in or why exactly I'm looking to kill time, my first instinct is to draw up a list of things I need—well, more often than not, things I want but don't actually need. Grocery lists, arbitrary to-do lists, and yes, shopping lists.
Being a fashion editor, I keep a running tab of my favorite brands and boutiques that are owned or designed by Black talent. These names are top of mind throughout the year, but given that February is Black History Month, it's the perfect time to highlight all the stunning Black-owned fashion items that are occupying my cart (and my headspace) right now. In the below edit, you'll find a range of items from pretty pearl earrings to reworked knits and brands from smaller indie labels like LaSette and Sammy B to industry heavyweights such as Telfar and Victor Gelmaud. This one goes out to you, Who What Wear readers, because there's no one who loves a good shopping list more than you do (except for yours truly).
If you haven't heard the name Thebe Magugu yet, well, consider this your official intro. The Johannesburg, South Africa-based label already holds the LVMH prize and is part of Matches Fashion innovator's program, just a few reasons why I'm convinced it's one to know. The stunning designs hit at the heart of what fashion people want to wear now, offering one-of-a-kind twists on staple silhouettes such as shirt dresses or this gorgeous cutout knit top.Cargo pants are suddenly on my mind with all the cool ways fashion people have been wearing them as of late and I've been eyeing this pair in the perfect shade of olive from LA-based Local European to get in on the look.Feathers were once a nighttime-only trend, but let's face it, they're a full-blown statement no matter what time of day and these strappy ankle-tie sandals from Brother Vellies deserve to have their moment in the sun.Ahluwalia is one of the most exciting emerging labels on the scene right now thanks to designer Priya Ahluwalia's uncanny ability to bring new life to deadstock fabrics. I love the day-to-night potential this checkerboard midi dress has. After going viral for his petite handbags emblazoned with the phrase "End Systemic Racism", Brandon Blackwood has not only managed to garner attention from the fashion world but he's harnessed the buzz into long-lasting intrigue. His latest batch of candy-hued mini bags is proof that he's only just getting started. Creating truly unisex designs that work equally as well for everyone is no easy feat, but Wales Bonner has managed to do just that and imbues each piece with an effortlessly cool feel. This sweater vest from the designer's latest collection feels retro and modern all at once. While pearl jewelry is trending at the moment, the simple gold hoops these feature on ensure thid pick is timeless, too. Everything Christopher John Rogers designs just puts a big smile on my face and this bubbly-yet-sultry bustier is exactly why the designer's whimsical ethos is so special. If you're not shopping Good American's selection of cool basics, what are you even doing? Next time you're perusing Shopbop or Nordstrom, do yourself a favor and add one of their useful staples like this ribbed dress to your cart.Nordstrom's edit of emerging brands is so good right now and Sammy B is an NYC-based brand that deserves to be on your radar. I'm eyeing this skirt with the coolest hemline I've ever seen. When the stylist behind some of the most epic celeb ensembles creates a label of their own, you know it has to be good. Such is the case with Aliette, Jason Rembert's brainchild and the emerging label catering to all our 2022 needs, starting with this insane ruched dress. If you're in the market for an investment piece of jewelry, I suggest one of Mateo's stunning pearl pieces like these hoops that are special enough to elevate an outfit but easy enough to wear every day.Nobody does cool knits quite like Victor Glemaud.Meet the minimalist bag brand I just put on my radar.I can never say no to a cute cardigan.Summer can't come soon enough if it involves this stunning swimsuit. It's the corset-inspired seaming for me.I've been turning to relaxed suiting trousers instead of jeans lately, and this beige pair hits on all the right elements. An everyday necessity.Tove's ethereal draped dresses and tie-up blouses have earned a special place in the hearts of fashion people (myself very much included).Because zebra print can never not look chic.In case you haven't heard, big checkered scarves are trending hard right now and my growing collection of the winter accessories is proof that it's a style I'm 100% behind.Bring the vacation vibes to you.So here for these halter straps. From the architectural shape to the '90s style, this is a major yes from me.Because I know you were looking for cool clogs (I was too).Make this brand your go-to for cool, minimal swimwear. POPSUGAR cover star Lori Harvey is blazing her way through the fashion world and leaving a trail of lavish outfit ideas for our Pinterest boards in her wake. In the interview, the model turned entrepreneur opens up about venturing into the beauty industry with her skin-care brand, Skn by LH; the pressures of fame; and what it means to grow a business. Each point is punctuated by a range of designer outfits, styled by Maeve Reilly and Rachel Bode, that are as chic as they are powerful.
In one moment, she strikes a power stance in a Versace blazer and raw-hemmed shorts. At the click of the camera, her outfit flashes to a sequined green Valentino ensemble, then into a red Burberry athleisure set paired with a pink coat that needs to materialize in our closets immediately. Looking great and feeling even better, Harvey is taking charge in 2022 - her style included.
Kim Kardashian is the face of Balenciaga's new campaign, and while it's an exciting announcement for the founder of Skims, the news won't come as a surprise to longtime fashion observers. Considering her relationship with Balenciaga's creative director, Demna Gvasalia, it feels like the culmination of many public moments we've seen last year: most notably at the 2021 Met Gala, which was the probable precursor of a new, all-covered Balenciaga uniform for the business mogul. We later saw an iteration at the People's Choice Awards, when she announced that she passed her baby bar exam, and during the family Christmas photo shoot. It's safe to say that Demna's designs are the 41-year-old star's go-to these days.
Shot on location by Stef Mitchell in her Calabasas home, Kardashian models three distinct ready-to-wear looks that feel authentic to her personal style. In one image, she poses in a black catsuit with one of the brand's most popular bags, La Cagole in neon green. In the second, she's a businesswoman in a leopard print coat, knife boots, and a black La Cagole in hand. In the third, she fully transforms into a Balenciaga muse in a signature oversize coat with sharp shoulders, finished with dark sunglasses, pointy boots, and the mini Hourglass handbag resting at her side. Considering Kardashian's celebrity, the campaign cements Balenciaga's position as one of the most culturally relevant luxury brands today. Also starring in the ads are French actress Isabelle Huppert and the models Tommy Blue and Marie-Agnès Diene.

Love is in the air at Ivy Park headquarters, and Beyoncé is basking in it. Ahead of Valentine's Day, the pop icon and business mogul announced an Ivy Heart collection, the latest in her ongoing partnership with Adidas. Now, Queen Bey modeled a look herself in a recent Instagram carousel where she's lounging in a three-piece tracksuit comprising of a red velour bra, zip-up jacket, and sweatpants. Only Beyoncé could make chilling at home look so good.
The rest of the sporty chic range includes red and pink tracksuits, printed separates, puffer coats, patent leather pants, footwear, and accessories. Not that we need much convincing, but the campaign featuring Karrueche Tran, Tyson Beckford, actor Shu Pei, and comedian Naomi Watanabe also totally sold us. Beyoncé previously enlisted Natalia Bryant, as well as Ava and Deacon Phillippe, to model her Halls of Ivy collection released in December.
Ivy Heart will be available online on Feb. 9 and in select stores Feb. 10. See Beyoncé's post ahead.
Welcome to Weekday Wardrobe, a series in which one Who What Wear editor or staffer will snap a pic of the outfits they wear from Monday to Friday. We'll break down where you can shop it all to inspire your own everyday style, no matter what's on your weekly agenda.
I have dozens of stylish co-workers, but our senior fashion editor, Kristen Nichols, has a specific style that I particularly admire. She's classic, elevated, and just looks super polished all the time. I'm building out my capsule wardrobe for the year, and I realized that, since she's just one Slack message away, I might as well ask her for advice. Her secret to a put-together look? A well-fitted bra. Kristen spilled, "I'm a big believer in getting fitted for a bra. After finding the right size, it made the biggest difference—both in how my outfits look and how comfortable I felt."
Now, here's the thing: If there's one struggle I've consistently had throughout the years, it's finding bras that fit properly. (Why is it so hard?) But Kristen let me in on yet another secret of hers: Wacoal's newest app, mybraFit™. The app will take a completely secure scanned image of your body to determine your bra size and will ask a few simple questions to figure out which styles suit you best. Within minutes, you'll receive an email with your customized size and bra recommendations, and you can click and purchase products seamlessly. It's literally that easy. Kristen was kind enough to give me some insight into a few new looks she's been wearing on repeat lately and the bras she's declaring responsible for the polished final result. Want to see what she's wearing this week? Keep scrolling.
"I live in Los Angeles, so hiking is something I do a lot. I like to start out my week with an early-morning hike at the city's most famous spot: Runyon. While I want what I'm wearing to be functional, I also want to wear something that feels on-trend. (And a sports bra paired with sweatpants is L.A.'s #1 off-duty look.) Most of the sports bras I own are from activewear brands, but this style from Wacoal prioritizes bust shape since it comes in my actual bra size to ensure the perfect fit. Instead of just flattening everything for function, it lifts at the same time, which is so key."
"I basically live in jeans and a button-down on the day-to-day. In this case, I added a pair of throwback sneakers and a baseball cap, two accessories I can't get enough of right now. Whether I'm working from home or grabbing lunch at one of my favorite local spots, this is what you'll find me wearing. I love that I can easily throw on a bralette with this top since it's such a go-to style for me. It's equal parts comfortable and pretty. If I'm running around, I want to wear something easy and comfortable, so I rely on some of my favorite closet basics—including everything I'm wearing here."
"I can't get enough of chic pantsuits, and I'm a firm believer that they work for nearly every occasion. The true trick to pulling them off? A great top and heels that make them feel fashion-forward as opposed to corporate. This bra worked perfectly with this top because it looked seamless and smooth under the tank. I couldn't even tell it had underwire—it was so comfortable!"
"Nothing tops this look for a work meeting. The split-hem leggings are effortlessly elevated with the easy addition of the structured blazer. Because this blazer is pretty fitted, I was looking for something that would offer support without any added volume—and this bra couldn't have been a better fit. And to be honest, while this bra is the perfect piece to wear under this blazer, it's also the ultimate pretty item to wear any chance I get. Trust me."
"A knit tank and pleated skirt paired with sharp slingbacks? My ideal date-night look. I'm wearing the same T-shirt bra as I was on Wednesday (it's worth having multiple in your drawers) because the thin straps on this bra make it an ideal style to swap in when I might normally go for something strapless. (I'm all for more support.) By the end of the week, I usually have a few social outings penciled in. I tend to keep my outfits sleek and easy, so a bra that can hide underneath a tank top is just what I'm looking for."
